LOMBARD CALCULATION (G7)
In his 2009 book (Applied Ballistics for Long Range Shooting), Bryan LITZ published a formula for predicting the form factor (i7) of a standard G7 projectile. This formula requires a supplied correction factor, referred to as Rt/R, without which no result can be obtained. To remove the need for this mysterious correction factor, we have developed a variant of this prediction formula, which we called LOMBARD. After numerous samplings, this calculation turns out to be just as accurate.
Considering that the quality of the result always depends on the quality of the input data, we let you enter the projectile specifications (expressed in thousandths of an inch), i.e.: Length (overall), Ogive (front part), Meplat (flat of the tip), Boat tail (rear part), Angle of the boat tail (in degrees), Radius (of the ogive) and Diameter (i.e. Projectile caliber). For example, to enter the diameter of a 308 projectile, just write 308 (without a dot). Projectile weight is in grains.
By default, the dimension data of the Sierra 308 MatchKing 210gr is displayed.
